It was a bright and beautiful sunny day on Thursday 26th April as we headed off to Port Macquarie on Linked to Life’s 1st overnight bus trip. Our bus was filled with enthusiasm, 9 happy clients, volunteer Pam, Ricki and myself (Carol).
First stop was Ricardo’s Tomatoes and Strawberries where we enjoyed a delicious lunch and a quick tour of the hydroponic farm before purchasing our fresh handpicked strawberries.
After checking into the Mid Pacific Motel to rest and refresh we made our way to Panthers Leagues Club for dinner then off to The Glasshouse Art Centre to rock ‘n roll to “60’s International Hit Makers”.
Next morning most of us headed to LV’s for breaky while other went for leisurely walks along the boardwalk.
A short visit to the Koala Hospital followed where we could see up close some of the koalas and read the stories behind the injuries resulting from bush fires and car accidents.
Our Linked to Life group travelled some beautiful countryside to the Eungai Buffalo Farm where we feasted on buffalo meat/milk/cheese and ice-cream before hearing Ian’s history of the farm.
On the way home we sang loudly and badly (I did anyway!) all the Rock ‘n Roll songs we had heard the night before. …”Da Doo Ron Ron Ron Da Doo Ron Ron!”
Until next time- Happy and safe travellin’
