Every year Linked to Life holds an annual event to celebrate and give thanks to all our valued volunteers for the time and commitment they devote to our organisation. This year, we were proud to give special reward and recognition to several of our volunteers for achieving long service as a volunteer with Linked to Life. Laurie was awarded his gold badge for 15 years service. When asked what has inspires him to volunteer, these were his words of wisdom……
“volunteering gives me a feeling of doing something worthwhile in my community. Out of all my jobs over my lifetime, my volunteer work has been the most rewarding. Linked to Life has enabled me to help those that are less fortunate do their shopping, banking, attend doctors appointments and just have a friend who cares about them by their side. The friendships that come along with this work are irreplaceable. The spirit of volunteer work is loving others and giving your time to help people in need. We may all find ourselves in need at one time or another in our life, and volunteering just helps the world go round that little bit easier. Where would our country be without volunteers? The ongoing satisfaction of this work keeps me coming back year after year. Linked to Life is a great not-for-profit charity to give your time and energy to, not matter how little or large you have to offer. I hope to be doing this work for absolutely as long as I am able!”
Other volunteers rewarded on the day were Colin, Maureen and Emilce for 10 years service, and Maurie, Barbara, Paul, Trish and Gina for 5 years of service.
